In life's dance….

c5mzc_1080_WhatsAppImage20231228at7

In life's dance, a complex
weave we find,
Busy days, tasks unaligned,
Yet in silence, alone we stand,

Choices many, yet lost in time's sand. Energy spent on duty's call, For inner peace, our
hearts do fall.

In the outer world, we deeply dive, Yet inner whispers seek to thrive.

Beneath needs basic, fed and housed,A deeper query, quietly roused.

'Is there more?' our spirits ask,
In life's grand, intricate task.

Is there a better possibility?

Atha Yogānuśāsanam

Amidst life's hustle, we seldom glimpse a serene horizon.

After a relaxing vacation, After meeting an old friend or relative,

After listening to soulful music or reading a quietening book,

After listening to the drops of rain, After watching the setting sun.

These are not poetic expressions, They point towards our need to come back to Mother Nature and our deeper, restful selves.

Unless we recognise that we are part of Nature, The misery continues and manifests in varied ways.

Our work life feels monotonous, challenging and dry, Our relationships feel void of warmth and genuine affection,

Our inner selves feels pale and empty. There is nothing new in this, We recognise this often and have tried,

Going to Spas, Weekend getaways and much more, We tried that latest 21 day Fitness Challenge, But what’s next?

Why doesn’t anything stick or last? This is where the journey of Yoga begins….

Only when we recognise that there is something within, That needs continuous and reverential attention, Can real transformation begin….

Namaste!

My name is Namrata

a5ndi_1200_WhatsAppImage20231228at8

I am a Student and Instructor of Yoga in the T Krishnamacharya Tradition.

After pursuing the well-sought after career of Chartered Accountancy, I realized that there was something deeper that I had completely neglected.

I was at a socially acceptable peak in my external world, But my inner world was fraught with fatigue, powerlessness and absence of agency.

Luckily, I realised I didn’t belong to the sky-scrapers of Mumbai City, And felt called to take up the study and practice of Yoga In service of myself and others.

Ever-since, I am committed to exploring a meaningful life based on the teachings of this rich tradition.

I am a trained Yoga Instructor under the tutelage of Smt. Saraswati Vasudevan and Smt. Uttara Venugopal at Yoga Vahini Foundation.

I am also a student of Antaranga Yoga and am a co-traveller at Ritambhara Acharya Sangha, founded by Shri Raghu Ananthanarayanan and a bunch of passionate individuals on similar journeys.

After pursuing (and achieving) the well-sought after career of Chartered Accountancy, I realized that there was something deeper that I had completely neglected all throughout.

You see, I was at a socially acceptable peak in my external world,
But my inner world was fraught with fatigue, powerlessness and absence of agency.
Lucky me, I realised I didn’t belong to the sky-scrapers of Mumbai City,
And felt called to take up the study and practice of Yoga In service of myself and people around me.

Yoga in the
T Krishnamacharya Tradition

exmdg_1080_Untitleddesign2

In the tradition of Yogacharya Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar, there is an emphasis on ‘following the student’s needs’.

Also, Yoga is offered not just as a physical exercise but a holistic practice intended to enable the student to nourish and cherish life in their existence.

Yoga therefore, is not taught in a mechanical, off-the-shelf, one-size-fits all basis. It is intricately nuanced to the physical, physiological, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the student.

Yogic practice is also not restricted to the few hours spent on the mat.

Practicing in this tradition places great importance on observing one’s relationships with oneself, others and the environment.

Abhyāsam in an integrated world

What are the spaces you inhabit as a person? What does your world comprise?

Here is a perspective…

u3odm_1080_4worlds

The physical world: Environment, food and physical well-being

The interpersonal world: Relationships and responsibilities

The systemic world: Societal or systemic roles, governance structures

The cultural world: Ways of making meaning of the world and ourselves

While these may seem distinct, they are deeply interconnected

Today, we are experiencing strife in multiple worlds without awareness of the interconnections between them.

For instance - Illness and morbidity deeply impacts our relationships.

At these moments we look for external healthcare structures for support.

Eventually, we reach a point where we begin questioning the world-views and cultures that have begun shaping us and the world so intrinsically.

While these may seem distinct in themselves,
they are deeply interconnected and integrated.

Today, we are experiencing strife in multiple worlds without possibly becoming aware of the interconnections that exist among them.

For instance -
Illness and morbidity deeply impacts our relationships and responsibilities.
When these go astray, we look for external healthcare structures which too offer limited support.
Eventually, we often reach a point where we begin questioning the world-views and cultures that have begun shaping us and the world so intrinsically.
